How to download Minecraft Bedrock 26.70.23 beta and preview
Minecraft Bedrock 26.70.23 is out as a beta and preview build. Here is how to install it on Windows, Android, iOS, Xbox and PlayStation.
Minecraft News
Mojang has released Minecraft Bedrock 26.70.23 as a fresh beta and preview build, the Times of India reported on 4 November. It gives players another early look at features that are still being worked on before they reach the standard game. These test builds are how Mojang finds and fixes bugs, and they show players what is coming next. The catch is that the way in is different on every platform, so this guide covers each device in turn.
For context, Sportskeeda described the previous build, 26.60.29, as a preview of the fourth drop of the year. That build added a frosty set of features: the ice cave biome, ice crystals, icicles, a freezing effect, frostbites and ice balls. It also brought bug fixes, graphical tweaks, Realms changes and interface updates. The Times of India piece concentrates on download steps rather than a changelog, so check Mojang's official notes to see exactly what 26.70.23 adds.
Before you install
minecraft.net is clear that test versions are unstable by design. Keep these points in mind:
- The game can crash, and builds in your worlds can become corrupted.
- Realms and Featured Servers are unavailable in beta and preview builds.
- Multiplayer only works with friends running the exact same test version.
- You need to own Minecraft, or have the right subscription, on your platform.
- Back up any world you care about before opening it in a test build.
Windows
The Times of India gives these steps. Open the Minecraft Launcher and pick Minecraft: Bedrock Edition from the sidebar on the left. Then open the drop-down menu beside the Play button and choose "Latest Preview". minecraft.net instead describes a separate Minecraft Preview tab with an Install or Play button. The exact wording may depend on your launcher version.
Sportskeeda adds that the Xbox app on Windows can also manage the Preview. It also notes that the launcher makes it easy to switch between the normal release and the test build. According to minecraft.net, you need to own the game or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass.

Android
Android players join a beta programme through Google Play. Open the official Minecraft listing, scroll to the section about joining the beta and tap Join. The Times of India says you then update the game once the beta becomes available. minecraft.net warns that the switch can take a while, and that the beta replaces your normal copy rather than sitting beside it. To return to the regular version, go back to the store listing, find the section confirming you are a beta tester, and choose Leave.
iPhone and iPad
On iOS, Minecraft Preview runs through Apple's TestFlight service, Sportskeeda notes. According to the Times of India, you receive an email with the download link, but places fill up quickly and you may have to wait. minecraft.net confirms that slots are limited. It says Mojang opens more from time to time and removes inactive testers to make room for newcomers.
Xbox, PlayStation and Switch
On Xbox, minecraft.net says you can search for Minecraft Preview in the Microsoft Store, install it, and select "Play Preview". Sportskeeda points to the Xbox Insider Hub app as the place to join and keep the Preview client updated. You need the digital version of the game, which is included in Game Pass. Disc owners cannot use the Preview. Sportskeeda says PlayStation players can reach the Preview from inside the main game. Nintendo Switch is still left out of the programme.
Turning on experimental features
Some new content stays hidden until you enable it. Start a new world or edit an existing one, open the Game settings and scroll to Experiments. Flip the toggle you want, then confirm when the game asks whether to activate experimental gameplay. minecraft.net notes that using an existing world creates a duplicate with "Copy of" added to its name, so your original stays untouched.
Java Edition players have a separate route. They test through Snapshots, chosen from the arrow beside the Play button in the launcher. Experimental features there are added as data packs when you create a new world.
What players are saying
We found little creator coverage or comment-section discussion of 26.70.23 to report at the time of writing. The best-known complaint is still access on iOS. The Times of India and minecraft.net both acknowledge that TestFlight places run out, which leaves some players waiting. Switch owners and Xbox disc owners also remain shut out of the Preview entirely. We will update this section if clearer reaction to the build emerges.
Reporting problems
Mojang asks testers to log bugs on its official bug tracker. You can share general opinions through the in-game feedback button or the Minecraft feedback site. Clear, detailed reports give the studio its best chance of fixing problems before these features reach everyone.
